Erin Andrews Shows That Style Can Shine Without a Red Carpet
Erin Andrews turned heads this past Sunday, not on the Golden Globes red carpet, but from the sidelines of the NFL’s 49ers–Eagles game. The renowned sportscaster made headlines with a striking high-fashion coat that quickly went viral, igniting a social media frenzy.
In an exclusive comment, Andrews expressed surprise at the public’s reaction. “I wanted something fun and exciting and high fashion, and when my stylist, Daniela, suggested I wear it, I knew it was something outside the box,” she shared. “I forgot I was even wearing it until I heard Michael Strahan’s reaction, and I just thought, ‘oh man, this is gonna have a social media kind of buzzing.’”
Andrews admitted that she was preoccupied with the game and remained unaware of the online chatter until after it concluded. “Did I think it would get such a big reaction? No, not at all. I really had zero clue what was happening on social media until the game was over,” she stated.
The coat’s standout status can be attributed to Andrews’ collaborative styling process with her longtime stylist, Daniela Romero. The team’s weekly preparations accommodate various weather conditions and team colors, ensuring Andrews’ looks remain polished and coordinated.
Romero explained, “We take it week by week! We have looks that are set aside for hot, rainy or cold weather. Also, depending on what teams are playing, we stay neutral on the colors she wears.” She highlighted brands such as The Frankie Shop, Altuzarra, and AUTER, the brand behind the now-famous coat.
Following the game’s conclusion, memes and playful commentary flooded social media, and Andrews embraced the playful humor. “Even in the airport on the way home, I got stopped by passengers who asked about the coat,” she recounted. “When I was traveling to the game, I was holding the coat in my arms because I didn’t want to lose it, and a guy asked me when I got on the plane if it was alive. And I looked at him and said, ‘No, but it’s going to look damn good on camera.’”
Designer Rob Zangardi, creator of the AUTER coat, described the experience as surreal. “We’re not even three months old, and while we’ve been incredibly grateful for the support we’ve gotten so far, seeing the coat go viral during a game watched by tens of millions of people was a whole different level,” he stated. “I was just proud and genuinely excited to see her looking so incredible in it.”
The unexpected buzz surrounding Andrews’ bold fashion choice has transcended the stadium, reinforcing her status as a trendsetter in the sportscasting arena.
