Erin Andrews Shares the Story Behind Her Viral Fur Coat
During the intense 49ers-Eagles playoff game on Sunday, sports fans shifted their focus from the match itself to Erin Andrews and her eye-catching fur coat. The veteran sideline reporter, known for her work with FOX Sports, braved the chilly conditions in Philadelphia by donning a voluminous coat that drew widespread comparisons to a range of notable characters, including Cruella De Vil and Jon Snow.
Andrews’ coat not only generated playful banter among viewers but also captured their admiration. One commenter remarked, “I’d f***ing kill for that coat. I can’t focus on what Erin Andrews is saying because I’m mesmerized by her coat,” while another expressed a greater interest in the coat than the game itself.

The coat, named the Fox Jacket, is designed by fashion creator Rob Zangardi and features plush faux fur with a sculptural oversized shawl collar. Retailing at $950, it is made entirely of faux materials, addressing a comment from a skeptical viewer who joked about its origins.
Andrews, usually seen in sleek, understated outfits, was not prepared for the viral response her coat generated. Speaking about the moment with Glamour, she shared, “I knew when my stylist, Daniela Romero, suggested I wear it that it was outside the box and super fun. I thought Philly was the best place to do it.” While conducting a segment with the NFL on FOX Pregame Show, she was focused on her job, barely registering the attention her outfit was attracting.

Despite not being aware of her viral status until after the game, Andrews understands the impact such exposure can have on a fashion line. “I remember when Taylor Swift was first seen wearing pieces from my line, WEAR by Erin Andrews, and the effect that had on our brand,” she noted. Zangardi echoed her sentiments, expressing gratitude for the newfound visibility, stating, “We’re not even three months old, and while we’ve been incredibly grateful for the support we’ve gotten so far, seeing the coat go viral during a game watched by tens of millions was a whole different level.”
Andrews believes the coat’s unique aesthetic contributed to the attention it received, explaining, “I think this coat caught people’s eye just because it’s such a different look for me. In the wind, I know it looked like a Beyoncé video.” She felt it was the perfect choice for the high-stakes environment of the playoff game.
Following the game, which attracted 41 million viewers and became the most-watched NFL wild card game since 2022, the Fox Jacket quickly sold out. It is now available for pre-order, with anticipated delivery in April.
