Emma Roberts’ Belletrist Productions Enters First-Look Deal with Blink49 Studios
Emma Roberts’ Belletrist Productions has secured a first-look deal with Blink49 Studios, the company known for its innovative approach to storytelling. This partnership will focus on the development and production of scripted television projects that align with Belletrist’s literary-centric vision.
Belletrist Productions originated from the book club founded by Roberts along with Karah Preiss. The company previously held a first-look agreement with Hulu, resulting in the successful series Tell Me Lies, which will debut its third season in January 2026. Additionally, Belletrist produced the supernatural teen series First Kill, which aired for one season on Netflix in 2022.
In a joint effort with Kim Kardashian, Roberts and Preiss are also executive producing Calabasas, a drama series for Netflix based on the book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner. Chris Van Dusen, known for his work on Bridgerton, serves as the writer and showrunner for the project.
Roberts expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, stating, “Karah and I are incredibly excited to partner with Blink49. Their commitment to bold storytelling and their appetite for rich, writer-driven material from global books to emerging IP makes them an ideal collaborator as we continue developing stories with a team so aligned with our creative vision.”
Pancho Mansfield, President of Global Scripted Television at Blink49, echoed this sentiment, noting, “We’re thrilled to partner with Belletrist. Emma and Karah have built a company with a distinctive creative voice and a proven ability to deliver sharp, high-quality stories.”
This collaboration signals an exciting new chapter for both companies, aiming to bring compelling narratives to a wider audience.
