In a recent conversation, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift had much to discuss following significant life events.
Sheeran, 34, who has not had a cell phone since 2015, learned about Swift’s engagement to fiancé Travis Kelce, 36, through a social media post in August. Swift, 35, did not inform Sheeran directly.
Shortly after this revelation, Sheeran shared details of their reunion in a recent Access Hollywood interview uploaded on November 28. He explained that, while discussing his upcoming Netflix special, One Shot with Ed Sheeran, he perceived their dynamic as friends waiting to reconnect.
“I saw her a week after that happened. So I did that interview and then I saw her and you talk in person,” he stated. “I kind of feel like being in touch with everyone — sort of — you lose actual human connection.”

Sheeran highlighted the depth of their friendship, saying, “When I saw Taylor, we had like a four-hour catch-up, and it’s life stuff, rather than … you know what I mean.”
The relationship between the two pop icons dates back to 2012 when Sheeran opened for Swift on her Red Tour. “I’m not self-conscious about my relationship with her,” he mentioned. “We’ve been friends for very many years. We’re super close and we see each other when we see each other.” He noted that their bond allows them to effortlessly reconnect after time apart.

Sheeran disclosed that he learned of Swift’s engagement in a manner similar to the general public during a conversation with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series in September.
Swift later recounted her perspective on the incident during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She expressed amusement at the situation, explaining, “He doesn’t have a phone, and this is one thing I love about him.”
While recounting how she forgot to inform him about the engagement, Swift mentioned that because she could only contact him through email or setup FaceTime via an iPad, she regrettably missed the chance to inform him sooner. “When the news came out, I was like, ‘Oh my God we forgot to call Ed! Oh no!’” she said, affirming the importance Sheeran holds in her life, adding, “He’s like family. I love him.”

In a light-hearted exchange featured on the Tonight Show TikTok account, Sheeran humorously confirmed Swift’s account, stating, “Hello from my allotted iPad time, this is factual.” However, in his Access Hollywood interview, he clarified that he currently uses only a laptop to check social media, having recently rid himself of the iPad altogether.
“I’ve actually got rid of the iPad as well,” he indicated. “So I’m not on anything anymore.”
One Shot with Ed Sheeran is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
