Ducks Stay on Top After Victory Against Winnipeg
WINNIPEG, Canada — Ryan Poehling’s standout performance, featuring a goal and an assist, propelled the Anaheim Ducks to a decisive 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.
In addition to Poehling, both Alex Killorn and Jackson LaCombe contributed with a goal and an assist each, while Tim Washe added another goal for Anaheim. Lukas Dostal made a solid contribution in goal, registering 12 saves as the Ducks widened their lead in the Pacific Division to three points over the Vegas Golden Knights.
The lone goal for Winnipeg came from Morgan Barron, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 30 shots in a losing effort. The defeat halted the Jets’ three-game win streak and their six-game point streak.
The first period ended scoreless, with the Ducks outshooting the Jets 8-2. The game’s first goal came at 5:04 of the second period when Barron scored his 10th of the season, assisted by Elias Salomonsson and Cole Perfetti.
However, the Ducks responded swiftly, scoring three goals in a span of just under two minutes. Washe leveled the score at 6:24, followed by Poehling regaining the lead for Anaheim just 14 seconds later. Killorn then extended the lead to two goals at 8:08.
In their three meetings this season, the Ducks have outscored the Jets 12-6. Dostal has now won 13 of his last 15 games, showcasing his impressive form.
