Woman Killed in South LA Hit-and-Run Incident
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in South Los Angeles early Thursday morning, according to police reports. The driver fled the scene, prompting an active investigation into the hit-and-run.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of West Manchester Avenue and Vermont Avenue in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood. Los Angeles Police Department officials from the South Traffic Division confirmed that the woman, who appeared to be elderly and was using a cane, was crossing at a marked crosswalk when she was hit. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Witnesses have described the victim as appearing elderly. However, authorities have not yet released her identity. There is currently no information on the suspect or the vehicle involved in the accident.
