Dodgers Place Struggling Closer Edwin Díaz on Injured List and Bring Back Jake Eder
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Monday that they have placed closer Edwin Díaz on the injured list due to what the team has termed “loose bodies” in his right elbow.
The 32-year-old reliever’s recent performance raised concerns; during his last appearance against Colorado on Sunday, he failed to secure an out and allowed three hits, including a two-RBI single.
Díaz, who was acquired for $69 million, will need time to recover as the team navigates the implications of his absence in the closing role.
