While speaking to Monty’s grave, Cami expressed her struggles with resentment, stating, “I’m trying very hard not to be mad” at him. She mentioned her therapist’s suggestion to write him a letter, revealing a moment of vulnerability as she shared the gifts she brought—a cigar and a bottle of his favorite bourbon.
“Harder to get than I would have imagined — you didn’t mention they’re illegal,” Cami joked as she commented on the cigar. She proceeded to ceremoniously pour the bourbon around his grave, quipping, “You can have this again, but they have a rule that you can’t leave the bottle, so you’re gonna have to drink it all now.”

In a bittersweet moment, Cami discovered a diamond ring hidden in Monty’s closet—an anniversary gift he never presented to her. Overwhelmed, she remarked, “Oh, Monty, it’s our 30th anniversary. I thought we’d have 20 more.”
This episode comes on the heels of a particularly intense scene in the previous episode, where Cami wept over a wedding photo of Monty, marking one of the show’s most emotionally charged moments to date.
At 63, Moore’s role has expanded significantly in season 2, following Monty’s death. She admitted in an interview that she was “not entirely prepared” for the depth of grief her character would experience. “Before the scripts started to come in, I was thinking about the company part and what that was going to entail,” she noted. “And I definitely had a lot of fear about having to go to that place.”

In the wake of Monty’s passing, Cami has also taken on the responsibility of managing his oil company, MTex, alongside Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton). Co-creator Christian Wallace commented on Cami’s struggle in the new season, stating she is “swimming with the sharks” as challenges mount around her.
Wallace added, “She’s been adjacent to this world for so long. Her and Monty were a really good couple, but she wasn’t the one having to make these decisions. Now she’s trying to find both her own authority while also trying to trust Tommy to help her navigate that.”
