D4vd Arrested in Connection with Celeste Rivas Hernandez Murder
LOS ANGELES — Singer D4vd has been arrested in relation to the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the artist. The arrest took place on April 16, 2023, as confirmed by authorities and reported by TMZ.
In a video published by TMZ, law enforcement can be heard issuing commands over an intercom at a residence in the Hollywood Hills, warning that they were armed as they approached. Footage released subsequently shows D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, being placed in handcuffs.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced via social media that D4vd is currently being held without bail as the case awaits review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney. LAPD plans to present the case for filing consideration on the following Monday. While the LAPD’s post indicated that Rivas Hernandez was 15 years old, sources have clarified that she was found deceased days before her 15th birthday.
An attorney representing D4vd has issued a statement denying the allegations. “Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death," the attorney asserted. "There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence."
The investigation revealed that Rivas Hernandez’s body was found on September 8, 2025, inside the trunk of the abandoned Tesla. Reports suggest that she had been deceased for several weeks prior to the discovery. D4vd and Rivas Hernandez had reportedly dated before her disappearance, which was first reported in April 2024 in Lake Elsinore.
In a twist of the narrative, D4vd’s friends initially believed Rivas Hernandez to be a 19-year-old college student, given her appearances at various age-restricted events. The couple also shared matching "Sshhhh" tattoos on their right index fingers, drawing additional speculation on social media regarding D4vd’s possible involvement in her death.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the implications of this case extend beyond the individuals involved, likely prompting discussions around youth safety and the pressures of growing fame.
