Conan O’Brien Set to Host the Oscars Again in 2027 with Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan as Executive Producers
Conan O’Brien is set to return as host of the Oscars for an impressive third consecutive year. The 99th Academy Awards, airing live on ABC and Hulu on March 14, 2027, will also see the return of executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan for their fourth straight year.
Initial reports suggested that ABC did not have an option for O’Brien to return as host; however, sources indicated he was included in his original agreement to emcee the 2024 ceremony.
Despite a ratings dip during this year’s awards, O’Brien has received acclaim for his hosting style, prompting ABC executives to seek his return.

At the conclusion of the 2026 Oscars, O’Brien humorously “signed off” as host in a sketch inspired by *One Battle After Another*, where he was declared “Oscars host for life,” only to be humorously killed off, with YouTuber MrBeast named as his successor.
“Conan has created remarkable energy around The Oscars,” stated Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group. “His singular comedic voice makes Hollywood’s biggest night one of the most entertaining celebrations of the year. We’re proud to welcome him back and look forward to what he and the producing team deliver next.”
Returning for a third time are producers Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney, with Sweeney also serving as a writer.
“We are thrilled to be working again with Conan, Raj, Katy, Jeff, and Mike for the 99th Oscars,” said Bill Kramer, Academy CEO, and Lynette Howell Taylor, Academy President. “They are an incredible team and have produced such captivating, entertaining and heartfelt shows over the last two years. We are so grateful for their ongoing partnership as we honor our global film community—and we look forward to Conan superbly leading the celebration with his brilliance and humor.”
O’Brien, best known for his late-night programs including *Late Night with Conan O’Brien*, *The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien*, and *Conan*, currently hosts the *Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend* podcast and the HBO travel series *Conan O’Brien Must Go*. Throughout his career, he has won six Primetime Emmys and received 33 nominations, including one for his work on the Oscars.
Raj Kapoor boasts nine Emmy Award nominations and has won for his contributions to the 96th Oscars and the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) *Adele: One Night Only*. Katy Mullan, a partner at Done + Dusted, a global live event production company, has also received two Emmy nominations for her work on the Oscars and won for the 96th ceremony.
Jeff Ross has produced various Conan-related shows, while Mike Sweeney’s extensive credits include work on *Conan O’Brien Must Go*, *Conan*, *The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien*, and *Late Night with Conan O’Brien*.
The 99th Oscars are scheduled for Sunday, March 14, at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC, streamed on Hulu, and broadcast in over 200 territories worldwide.
