In Silky Smooth, Liao delves into the complexities of adulthood, examining themes such as coordinating fun activities with weary friends, the inequities faced by single individuals, the allure of amusing partners, and the anxiety tied to being a role model for her imagined children. Liao’s career trajectory gained attention when she transitioned from working in HR at Netflix to performing her own set in their stand-up series, Verified Stand-Up. In a recent statement, she expressed, “What the world desperately needs now is more content. My first hour is the beautiful result of living as a confident, angry, tired woman. Performing this hour live around the world has been a dream and I’m truly proud of it and excited for you all to see it.”
As a stand-up comic, actress, and writer, Liao was recognized as a New Face at Just for Laughs Montreal in 2023. She has made multiple appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and has toured internationally, performing to sold-out audiences.
