Coldplay Kiss Cam Woman Shares Her Side of the Story

One of the most talked-about incidents of 2025 has been the Coldplay kiss cam scandal, and few are more intimately connected to it than Kristin Cabot, the woman at the center of the controversy. She has finally shared her perspective after a period of silence following the event that significantly impacted her life.
Cabot, a former HR executive at Astronomer, was shown on the jumbotron during Coldplay’s concert in Boston in August, sharing an affectionate moment with then-CEO Andy Byron, who has since resigned. In a recent piece published in the New York Times, she recounts her experience, which included facing online harassment and threats.
“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” Cabot admitted. “And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.”
Addressing her children, she expressed, “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”
In the aftermath of the viral incident at Gillette Stadium, public scrutiny quickly escalated as details emerged about Cabot’s role at Astronomer and her relationship with Byron, both of whom were married at the time. While acknowledging the inappropriateness of her actions, Cabot emphasized that there is more to the story than it appears.
Prior to attending the concert, Cabot had separated from her husband. She and Byron had connected over their respective marital difficulties, adding complexity to their relationship. Despite growing feelings for him, she believed she could manage the situation until that fateful night, which she claims was their only kiss.
“Some inside part of my brain might have been jumping up and down and waving its arms, saying, ‘Don’t do this,’” Cabot recalled. “I was like: ‘I got this. I can have a crush. I can handle it.’”
As her image appeared on the major screens at the concert, she felt “embarrassed and so horrified,” and immediately began discussing how to inform Astronomer’s board about the incident. However, the situation escalated further as it gained traction on social media.
Amidst the chaos, Astronomer’s crisis-management plan included a video featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin, who made light of the situation without directly addressing the scandal. “I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” Paltrow quipped sarcastically.
Martin has also commented on the incident, referring to it as a “debacle.” Meanwhile, Cabot faced extensive backlash, including being doxxed and receiving threats, all while worrying about her children’s safety. She hopes to remind others that everyone makes mistakes, regardless of whether their errors become public.
“Can we start a conversation where there might be room for a different version of this story?” she implores.
