Coachella Weekend 2 Faces Over $40,000 in Set Time Penalties
Fines Imposed for Curfew Violations at Coachella Music Festival
Fines for curfew violations at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio exceeded $40,000 during the event’s second weekend.
The city reported that Friday’s performances incurred $24,000 in fines due to acts that ran over time, while Saturday’s violations added another $20,000. Notable artists Anyma and Justin Bieber contributed to these fines, finishing their sets at 1:09 a.m. and 1:02 a.m., respectively, both exceeding the established 1 a.m. end time.
The festival operates under a timed agreement with the city of Indio, which allocates the fine money to its general fund. The fines are billed to the festival’s organizers, Goldenvoice, who have been approached for comments regarding the penalties.
In contrast, the first weekend of the festival reported no violations.
