Chloe Fineman’s family has recently welcomed a new dog, and the comedian has shared insights into their unique approach to puppy-proofing their home.
On December 31, the 37-year-old Saturday Night Live star gave fans a glimpse into her parents’ home, revealing not just their endearing puppy, but also her mother’s preparations for the pet.
In a video posted on Instagram, Fineman humorously remarked, “My mom got a puppy and lost her f—— mind,” while standing beside her father, David Fineman.
Ellen Gunn, Fineman’s mother, and David were both featured prominently in the clip.
“So here’s a guided tour of how we protect the kitchen,” David stated, transitioning from the living room to the kitchen, where he stood behind a black puppy gate.
Chloe described their safety measures, noting, “We usually have [something] clamped here,” as she demonstrated securing the gates with a spring clamp. She showed the array of wire gates placed along the floor and cabinets, adding, “Mom, this is f—— insane,” while her father advised her to “be careful.”
The video continued with a look at how the family has adapted to the protective measures put in place.
“Time to sit!” Chloe said, humorously capturing her father struggling to sit in a chair surrounded by fencing. The playful atmosphere continued as David voiced mock distress while grabbing at his crotch, prompting laughter from Chloe.

Chloe attempted to sit next, exaggeratedly reacting to the experience, prompting her father to inquire about her well-being off-camera.
Back in the kitchen, Chloe quipped, “I will say, there’s a very thoughtful touch if you move here.”

“You can barely open the trash,” she added, showcasing her mother’s extensive puppy-proofing efforts.
After an amusing tour reflecting on the challenges posed by the gates, the puppy, Chibby, finally made its on-screen appearance, promptly sitting on command.
Chloe also highlighted her mother’s innovative “puppy proof picnic table,” situated in the dining room.
Fineman, familiar with puppy parenting, previously discussed her own Shiba Inu, named Peach, in a conversation from March 2025. She shared that the name was inspired by the dog’s appearance and her engagement with Georgia’s political climate during the 2020 election.
Reflecting on her experience with pet care, she noted the importance of maintaining a healthy weight and how choosing the right food doesn’t have to be a complicated process.
