Check Out the New ‘Supergirl’ Trailer Featuring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El
Warner Bros. has released the highly anticipated first trailer for its upcoming summer film, Supergirl, featuring Milly Alcock in the lead role as Superman’s cousin, who grapples with her own struggles, including a drinking problem.
Fans of the franchise got a brief introduction to Alcock’s character in James Gunn’s Superman, where Supergirl makes an unexpected entrance into the iconic fortress of solitude. The trailer suggests that Kara will fit seamlessly into a vibrant, unconventional universe reminiscent of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but it highlights her distinct character arc. Unlike the portrayal in the 1984 film, Alcock’s Supergirl faces personal demons, giving her a unique edge in confronting challenges, including formidable foes reminiscent of a Mad Max theme.
In one striking line from the trailer, Alcock’s character asserts, “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth,” showcasing her more gritty perspective compared to that of her cousin.
The film promises a loyal companion as Superman’s dog, Krypto, joins the adventure alongside Supergirl.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl draws inspiration from Tom King’s 2022 comic series, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, illustrated by Bilquis Evely. Ana Nogueira has adapted the comic for the screen. In the storyline, Supergirl teams up with a young alien named Knolle on a quest across the galaxy to confront Krem of the Yellow Hill, who has committed a heinous act against Knolle’s family. Fans have likened the narrative to the John Wayne classic, True Grit.
Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
