Chase Infiniti Receives BAFTA Nomination Following Oscars Oversight for ‘One Battle After Another’ Role
Chase Infiniti has garnered recognition from BAFTA following her omission from the Oscars nominations. The actress, known for her breakout role in One Battle After Another, has been nominated for Best Leading Actress at the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards in London next month. This nomination comes after she was also named a Rising Star last week.
Infiniti, who portrayed the determined Willa in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, will compete against talented nominees including Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia).
The nomination arrives amid disappointment over her exclusion from the Academy Awards, which prompted comments from co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio, who plays Willa’s father Bob Ferguson, expressed that Infiniti was the “heart and soul” of One Battle After Another, according to the Associated Press.
Infiniti is not alone in rebounding from Oscars disappointment. Hamnet star Paul Mescal has received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs, while Odessa A’zion has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Marty Supreme.
For Infiniti, the past success of her fellow nominees may bring hope. Mikey Madison, nominated last year for both Leading Actress and Rising Star, won the Leading Actress award for her performance in Anora.
One Battle After Another leads this year’s BAFTA nominations with a total of 14, including Best Film, Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, and a Leading Actor nomination for DiCaprio.
Alan Cumming, known for his role in The Traitors, will host the BAFTA Film Awards, scheduled for February 22 at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
