Charli XCX Shares Her Thoughts on Doing a 007 Theme Song: “Never Say Never”
Charli XCX, a three-time Grammy winner with a lineage of pop icons including Madonna, Adele, and Billie Eilish, has expressed hesitance about joining the ranks of artists who have contributed to the James Bond franchise.
The singer-songwriter, who recently crafted the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, addressed the possibility of recording a Bond theme song while discussing the franchise’s overhaul by Amazon MGM Studios.
“I got to say, I don’t think that I am built for that,” Charli admitted during a segment on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show. “I think I probably sing with too much AutoTune to do a James Bond. Never say never. I’m open to it if they want to call me, which they won’t but, yeah. I think it might not be a fit, but that’s, well, yeah. It’s not going to happen now, is it? So amazing. I don’t know.”
In a lighthearted moment, she humorously gestured to the camera, saying, “Barbara, call me,” directing her comment towards producer Barbara Broccoli.

In June, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Denis Villeneuve would direct the next installment of the iconic series, while last month, Steven Knight was confirmed as the film’s writer, marking a new partnership with returning producers Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer.
Daniel Craig previously portrayed James Bond in five films, including Casino Royale (2006) and No Time to Die (2021). The search for his successor continues, with no official announcement regarding the next actor to take on the role.
In addition to her work on the Wuthering Heights soundtrack, Charli recently made waves at Sundance with her meta mockumentary The Moment and appearances in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex and Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist.
