Cardi B Addresses Trump Advisor Over Nicki Minaj’s Bot Report Issue
Cardi B Responds to Political Commentary from Trump Advisor
Cardi B is taking a stand after Alex Bruesewitz, a political advisor to Donald Trump, drew her name into discussions regarding Nicki Minaj’s recent political shift. The situation escalated following a report from Politico journalist Jason Beeferman that revealed approximately 33 percent of social media accounts engaging with Minaj’s conservative posts were bots. This study, conducted by the disinformation research firm Cyabra, suggested a coordinated effort to boost the rapper’s political messaging online.
Bruesewitz questioned the credibility of the report in a series of posts on X, suggesting that the connection between Cyabra and Cardi B’s agent, Mike G, had not been sufficiently disclosed. Bruesewitz, who is close to Minaj, criticized Beeferman for not mentioning this relationship.
“The agent in question is United Talent’s Mike G, who serves as an advisor and investor in Cyabra’s business," Bruesewitz stated. Reacting to the comments, Cardi B expressed her dissatisfaction, sharing Mike G’s rebuttal on X, which emphasized that his involvement with Cyabra was unrelated to Cardi. She engaged in a heated exchange with Bruesewitz, expressing her frustration at being embroiled in the controversy unnecessarily.
Controversially, Cardi B stated, “You involved me and disturbed me for no reason. Ain’t no white man about to sit here and gaslight me… Why you not replying to the fact that that’s real data?” She threatened legal action against Bruesewitz during her response.
In turn, Bruesewitz responded on X, rejecting the notion that Minaj and MAGA were allegedly using bots to amplify her online presence. He also challenged the data’s legitimacy, given the ties between Cyabra and Cardi B’s associates. “The story’s implication is that @NICKIMINAJ and MAGA are paying for bots to boost her, which I simply don’t buy,” he asserted.
Cardi B, meanwhile, further retorted, questioning the focus on her agent’s connection and stating, “I’m on a sold-out tour and don’t give af about none of what you and your people got going on. America got so many issues… yet Trump’s advisor is arguing on Twitter with a female rapper.”
In a comment to Billboard, Bruesewitz clarified, “Cardi B had a dramatic crash out on the internet because I accurately pointed out that her agent is on the advisory council of Cyabra, the firm that conducted the ‘bots’ report.” He emphasized that he never accused her of any wrongdoing but maintained that the relationship between her agent and the firm should have been disclosed.
Bruesewitz’s attorney, Joe McBride, echoed this sentiment, arguing, “If a media outlet is going to rely on a report from a company tied to one side of a very public feud, that relationship should be disclosed.” He added that Bruesewitz did not imply that Cardi B orchestrated the situation or manipulated data.
As tensions rise, Cardi B’s long-standing liberal views clashes with Minaj’s recent alliances within the conservative landscape. Bruesewitz is not the only right-wing political figure to comment on the rivalry; in December, Vice President JD Vance expressed a similar sentiment on X, stating, “Nicki > Cardi.”
Both artists continue to navigate the complex and politically charged landscape as their public personas evolve.
