Car Accident in Van Nuys Sends Vehicle Soaring After Hitting Hydrant
Vehicle Crash Leads to Dramatic Fire Hydrant Incident in Van Nuys
A car crash in Van Nuys resulted in a dramatic incident when a vehicle collided with a fire hydrant, sending it airborne due to the force of the water gushing from the broken fixture.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported the rollover crash at 12:56 p.m. on Roscoe Boulevard, near the intersection with Ventura Canyon Avenue.
Surveillance footage captured the sequence of events leading up to the collision. The video reveals a white vehicle navigating the intersection when it is struck by a silver sedan. The impact pushes the white vehicle onto a curb and directly into the fire hydrant.
The footage showcases a yellow metal post dislodged during the incident, as water quickly inundates the area, creating a hazardous pool on the street. As the water exploded from the hydrant, the car tilted roughly 70 degrees off the ground.
At this time, it remains unclear who is to blame for the collision that resulted in the damage to the hydrant and significant water waste. Fortunately, fire officials confirmed that no individuals were hospitalized as a consequence of the crash.
