Cameras Discovered in San Dimas Tied to Recent Burglary Incidents, According to Deputies
Authorities Warn San Dimas Residents About Hidden Cameras Amid Burglary Reports
San Dimas officials are cautioning residents to be vigilant regarding concealed cameras near their homes following a series of burglaries. The warning comes from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas station.
On Tuesday, deputies responded to a residential burglary in the 800 block of Via Gregorio and discovered a concealed camera nestled in the bushes across the street from the victim’s property. This camera was linked to a portable hotspot and an external battery, indicating an active surveillance effort.
Further investigation revealed another hidden camera, uncovered by a landscaper during routine maintenance in the same neighborhood. “That device consisted of a cellular phone connected to a power bank and wrapped in green camouflage tape with artificial plants attached to it,” noted the LASD in its report.
Authorities explained that these devices are often disguised within shrubs, planters, trees, or flower beds, allowing them to blend seamlessly into the environment. Once placed, the cameras enable suspects to monitor potential victims, making it easier to execute crimes.
In light of these developments, the LASD advises residents to regularly inspect their properties for any unusual activity, trim back overgrown vegetation, and enhance home security by installing cameras and ensuring that exterior areas are well-lit, particularly at night.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious findings to the San Dimas Station at (909) 450-2700.
