Caltrans Shares Details on Route 2 Closures and Parking Changes for Improvement Work
Lane Closures and Parking Restrictions Announced for State Route 2 Project in Los Angeles
Caltrans has revealed plans for lane closures and parking restrictions related to a significant pavement project along state Route 2, affecting both West Los Angeles and the Echo Park community. The project aims to improve curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
Construction is scheduled to take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday, barring any changes. Additionally, parking restrictions will be enforced 24/7 from March 1 to March 7.
This $70.2 million initiative will extend along state Route 2, starting from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica and concluding at Echo Park. The project encompasses three segments designed to enhance safety and extend the life of the pavement across various areas of Route 2.
During the initial segment, planned lane closures will affect one lane of both eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Boulevard between Westgate Avenue and Barry Avenue from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. from March 1 to March 7. Moreover, parking will not be allowed on either side of Santa Monica Boulevard in that section from 9 p.m. on March 14 to 11 a.m. on March 15.
As weather and operational factors may affect the timeline, Caltrans advises that changes to the schedule, including the duration and specifics of closures, could occur. Nearby residents and businesses may experience increased noise, vibrations, and dust during construction activities.
