Cal State Dominguez Hills Introduces New Free Tuition Program
Cal State Dominguez Hills Introduces Free Tuition Initiative for Eligible Students
Cal State Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has announced a new program aimed at providing free tuition and mandatory fees for eligible students, starting in the fall of 2026.
The initiative, termed the Toro Tuition Pledge, is designed to support first-time freshmen for four years and transfer students for two years, according to university officials.
This pledge is targeted at California residents who qualify for federal Pell Grants or demonstrate a comparable level of financial need. To retain eligibility, students must enroll full-time and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
"CSUDH’s mission is rooted in affordability and accessibility, and the Toro Tuition Pledge builds on our longstanding work of expanding opportunity to ensure every student can succeed," said Interim President Mary Ann Villarreal in a statement. "This effort reaffirms our commitment to transforming students’ lives and economic prospects."
University officials indicated that the program will primarily utilize existing financial aid resources, supplemented by institutional funding, to fully cover tuition and required fees for eligible students. However, it is important to note that the pledge does not include additional costs such as housing, parking, or textbooks.
