Bruno Mars Expresses His Affection for Taylor Swift Amid Fan Backlash
Trending on Billboard
Bruno Mars recently sought to clarify his feelings toward Taylor Swift after online speculation suggested he had indirectly criticized the pop star. The Silk Sonic artist addressed the issue in a comment on X on Sunday, March 15.
Responding to a post featuring a purported screenshot of Mars seemingly liking an Instagram video criticizing Swift, he stated, “Taylor has always been supportive and kind to me.”
Mars emphasized his position by adding, “Only love over here.”
Billboard has reached out to Swift’s representative for comment.
The controversial screenshot reportedly shows a clip of Swift performing during her Eras Tour, with text branding the 14-time Grammy winner as “talentless.”
Billboard was unable to verify the authenticity of the screenshot, and the account that allegedly posted it appears to have been deleted.
Both Mars and Swift are prominent figures in the music industry, frequently competing for chart dominance. Mars recently achieved his 10th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 with “I Just Might,” which has held the top position for three weeks. Prior to this, Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” enjoyed a 10-week reign at the summit.
Adding to the excitement, Mars has released his first solo album in a decade, titled The Romantic, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart following its release on February 27. His last album, 24k Magic, reached No. 2 in 2016. The last notable interaction between Mars and Swift on social media occurred in 2015, when he humorously joined Swift’s public feud with Nicki Minaj over VMA nominations. Mars remarked at the time, “Yo I want in on this Twitter beef!! VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran F–k You!”
Ed Sheeran, also part of that exchange, playfully retorted, “@BrunoMars any way we do dis you gon’ come up short.”
