Broken Social Scene to Release New Album and Tour North America in 2026 with Metric and Stars
Indie rock veterans Broken Social Scene have announced their upcoming album, Remember the Humans, slated for release on May 8th through Arts & Crafts. In addition to this announcement, the Toronto-based collective has unveiled a music video for the album’s lead single, “Not Around Anymore,” and detailed a North American tour featuring fellow Canadian bands Metric and Stars.
This album will mark Broken Social Scene’s first full-length release of new material since 2017’s Hug of Thunder. The project sees the return of producer David Newfeld, who previously collaborated with the group on You Forgot It in People and Broken Social Scene. The album will also feature contributions from prominent artists including Feist, Lisa Lobsinger, and Hannah Georgas. Notably, both Newfeld and bandleader Kevin Drew experienced personal loss, with the passing of their mothers occurring during the album’s recording.
"Our moms would have wanted us to do this, and get it right after 20 years of not working together,” Drew stated in a press release.
Beyond its significance as the first glimpse of new music, “Not Around Anymore” serves as the album’s opening track. Described as a mid-tempo indie tune infused with nostalgic undertones, the song presents a distinctive sound characterized by engaging production.
Following the album’s release, Broken Social Scene will embark on the “All the Feelings” tour, commencing on June 8th in Austin. The tour will stop in major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Philadelphia, culminating in a hometown performance in Toronto on August 7th.
Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase beginning February 6th at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Last year, the band commemorated the anniversary of their influential album You Forgot It in People by releasing a full-length tribute album, which featured contributions from artists such as Maggie Rogers, Sylvan Esso, and Toro y Moi.
