Britt Lower Reflects on Unique Holiday Tradition and Upcoming Award Nomination
Britt Lower, the star of the hit series Severance, recently shared insights into her annual Christmas festivities. Speaking at the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Celebration held at The Maybourne in Beverly Hills on December 17, Lower discussed hosting a festive pageant at home with her husband, British hairstylist Kenna Kennor.
"It’s a homemade variety show in my living room," Lower explained. "And it’s just my favorite, favorite, favorite day of the year where friends share talents, from reading poetry to drinking a glass of water, as their talent is hydration. I’m in the afterglow of that. It was just last weekend."
For her part in the revelry, Lower humorously noted that she "set the bar really low" by performing a song on her ukulele without any rehearsal. "I allow myself to make a fool of myself," she stated. "It’s just great fun being in the room with other people and sharing. It’s lovely."
Lower expressed her affection for the Christmas season, admitting that she and Kennor often decorate their tree as early as November. She described the holiday as a special time to unwind after a busy year, saying, "We all work so hard, and it’s time to exhale, right before we inhale."
Looking ahead, Lower is preparing for a busy 2026. She has received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards on January 11 for her role as Helly R./Helena Eagan in Severance.

During the celebration luncheon, Lower was joined by fellow first-time nominees including her Severance co-star Tramell Tillman, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Rhea Seehorn, among others. Reflecting on the honor of being nominated, she remarked, "It’s a huge privilege to be named amongst these incredible artists right next to me. I’m really just savoring it and taking it in."
Lower also shared thoughts on her role in Severance, stating, "I feel like I could answer this probably all day long. I think with any role, when you step into someone else’s perspective, you gain empathy for their triumphs and their mistakes." She emphasized the show’s exploration of the human experience, noting, “Sometimes our greatest enemies are that inner critic within, and that inner child is fighting to get out.”
As Lower continues to navigate her burgeoning career, she remains reflective and grateful for the opportunities that allow her to connect deeply with her characters.
