Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Ally’ Announces Exciting Voice Cast Featuring Alex Jayne Go, Ayo Adebiri, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, and Werner Herzog
Oscar and Cannes Palme d’Or-winning Korean director Bong Joon Ho has announced the voice cast for his highly anticipated debut animated feature film, Ally. The film follows the adventures of a charming piglet squid.
The star-studded cast includes Alex Jayne Go (Searching), Ayo Edebiri (Clarissa), Bradley Cooper (Maestro, A Star Is Born), Dave Bautista (Dune: Part Two), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Rachel House (A Minecraft Movie), and Werner Herzog (Encounters at the End of the World).
Co-written by Bong Joon Ho and Jason Yu (Sleep), Ally centers around a curious piglet squid yearning to see the sun and become the star of a wildlife documentary while living in the depths of the South Pacific Ocean.
Ally’s tranquil existence is disrupted when a mysterious aircraft crashes into the ocean, prompting her to embark on an extraordinary adventure to the surface, accompanied by her colorful and unlikely friends.
Inspired by real marine life, the film delves into themes of friendship and courage, as the interactions between humans and deep-sea creatures transform both realms. Set against vivid underwater landscapes, it promises to be a family-friendly adventure infused with humor and emotion.
The film will be released in North American theaters by Neon, while Pathé will handle distribution in France, Benelux, Switzerland, and West Africa. In South Korea, Vietnam, Turkey, and Indonesia, distribution responsibilities fall to CJ and Penture, with Pathé overseeing international sales excluding Japan and China.
