BMW Collides with Santa Monica Business, Driver Left Seriously Hurt
Car Crashes into Santa Monica Building, Driver Hospitalized
Santa Monica, Calif. – A late-night collision on Thursday caused significant disruption when a vehicle crashed into a building on Santa Monica Boulevard, leaving the driver injured and the structure severely damaged.
The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. in the 2600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near the intersection with Princeton Street. Emergency responders arrived to find an orange BMW that had forcibly impacted the first floor of a building, which houses a printing and web design business, Sir Speedy.
According to police, the business was unoccupied at the time of the crash. However, residents living in an apartment above the business were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Airbags deployed during the collision, and the driver was transported to the hospital for medical care.
Santa Monica Boulevard was temporarily closed from Harvard Street to 26th Street to allow for emergency response and recovery efforts. As of Friday morning, the damaged vehicle was towed away, and building and safety inspectors are scheduled to evaluate the structural impact of the crash.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, and it has not yet been determined what caused the driver to lose control. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
