Blake Shelton, a seasoned country artist, has collaborated with numerous entertainers throughout his 25-year career. However, he openly admits to feeling “nervous” during his time with Adam Sandler. “I was such a fan,” Shelton recalled, speaking of the comedian and actor known for his roles in various films. “I didn’t know what he was going to be like, but I wanted him to be like the guy that’s in all these movies, and sure enough, he is.” Shelton worked alongside Sandler in the 2015 film The Ridiculous 6, where he portrayed legendary lawman Wyatt Earp.
Leading up to the film, Shelton expressed, “I was a nervous wreck because I had to act, and I never really acted before. Everything about it was just like a fish out of water for me, but Adam instantly made me feel comfortable.” Reflecting on Sandler, he added, “You can’t help but smile when you’re around that guy.”

More recently, Shelton collaborated with Post Malone on the song “Pour Me Drink,” a venture that earned them a CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year. “There’s no reason to be nervous around him. If you’re going to be around Post, it’s just going to be a party,” Shelton remarked of Malone. He described the vibe as one that encourages celebration and camaraderie, adding, “Even if you don’t smoke, just start smoking and just party.”
While Malone was a songwriter on “Pour Me Drink,” Shelton admits he doesn’t write as frequently as he once did. However, he is currently focused on creating new material. Having recently commenced a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on January 15, he expressed enthusiasm for his creative process. “I am writing right now,” Shelton shared backstage. “I’m probably not in search of what you would think I would be or what my label would hope—big runaway hits. I hope to get those, but I’m having more fun just writing with people that are bucket list people or someone that I just love. To share music with someone special to me for one reason or another is what I get more excited about.”
