Beverlywood Break-In Leads to Arrest Linked to 25 Burglary Cases in LA, According to LAPD
Arrest Made in Beverlywood Burglary Linked to Organized Theft Group
A 22-year-old resident of Los Angeles, identified as Kevin Diaz, has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries across the city. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reports that Diaz is linked to approximately 25 burglaries, including 14 in the San Fernando Valley.
Diaz was apprehended earlier this week after a break-in at a home on Rexford Drive in Beverlywood. According to police, the resident was present during the incident and sought refuge in a bathroom while calling 911.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the front door open and noticed Diaz, dressed in a black hoodie and pants, inside the home. He attempted to flee but was located in a neighbor’s backyard shortly thereafter. Following a brief chase, police took Diaz into custody and charged him with first-degree residential burglary. His bail has been set at $50,000.
Though specific incidents tied to Diaz have not been disclosed, police indicated the burglaries span multiple divisions within the LAPD, including West LA, Olympics, Southwest, Devonshire, Mission, and West Valley.
In response to a surge in burglaries, LAPD sources revealed last month that recent incidents in the San Fernando Valley appear to be linked to organized groups involved in thefts extending from San Diego to the Bay Area. They warned that international burglary crews are re-emerging, conducting well-planned heists.
The investigation into Diaz’s activities and the broader burglary trend remains ongoing.
