Bella Hadid Calls Out Dolce & Gabbana for Years of Racism, Sexism, and Bigotry
Bella Hadid Criticizes Dolce & Gabbana for Lack of Inclusivity
Model Bella Hadid has publicly criticized luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana in a pointed social media response that has garnered widespread attention. In an Instagram exchange initiated by fashion commentator Elias Medini, Hadid expressed her views on the brand’s non-inclusive practices.
In comments made on January 18, Hadid remarked, “Shocked people actually support this company still, it’s embarrassing,” referencing the brand’s recent presentation during Milan’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2026 show. She added, “Models/stylists/casting, the whole damn thing,” highlighting her concerns about the company’s approach to representation.
Hadid elaborated further, stating, “Beeeen cancelled … years of racism, sexism, bigotry, xenophobia … how are we shocked still?” Her remarks seem to resonate with many, as her initial comment alone accumulated over 40,000 likes and drew numerous supportive replies from fans.
One admirer praised Hadid’s stance, declaring, “OMG, the QUEEN that you are. JEOPARDIZING your incredible career over and over again to speak the TRUTH!” Another chimed in with, “Yes queen, it should have been cancelled years ago.”
However, not all responses were favorable. Some industry insiders countered that participation in such shows is often essential for many models, pointing out that “doing the show simply means being able to pay rent, saying ‘no’ is a privilege.” Another user cautioned, “Bella be careful.”
Despite the criticism, Hadid remains unyielding. The model, recognized for her stylish appearances and previous associations with Dolce & Gabbana, was last seen in their clothing in October 2025. During a public outing in New York City, she donned equestrian-themed trousers originally from the brand’s 2001 spring collection.
Hadid’s comments echo her previous criticisms of the fashion industry. In 2019, she voiced her lack of empowerment while modeling lingerie until her experience with Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty collection. More recently, she faced backlash for her involvement in a 2024 Adidas campaign, which she criticized for insensitivity regarding historical events.
As the conversation around inclusivity in fashion continues to evolve, Hadid’s comments reinforce the ongoing scrutiny faced by high-profile brands like Dolce & Gabbana. The implications of this discourse may have lasting effects on the industry, as consumers increasingly demand transparency and equity.
