BBC Announces Cast for ‘Honey,’ the Exciting New Prequel to ‘Killing Eve’
The BBC has announced the cast for its highly anticipated prequel to the acclaimed series Killing Eve, titled Honey.
In this new installment, the plot centers around Martha Schmitt, a deep cover agent for MI6. Constantly at risk of exposure, she must evade capture by Friedrich, the newly appointed Stasi Head of Counterespionage targeting British operatives. The ensemble cast also includes Oliver Cudbill as Stefan Weiss, Sonita Henry as Anne Anderson, Victoria Mayer as Ingrid Schimmel, Valentino Dalle Mura as Rolf Muller, July Namir as Kamilla Akhmedova, Julian Niedermeier as Otto Kowalski, Sofia Oxenham as Greta Abstreiter, and Daniel Zielinski as Tomas Klein.
Honey marks a significant collaboration between the BBC and the German network ZDF, and is developed by Sid Gentle Films, the same company behind Killing Eve. The screenplay is crafted by Emma Moran. Notably, Martha Schmitt is portrayed as a younger version of Carolyn Martens, a character originally brought to life by Fiona Shaw in Killing Eve. Although Imogen Daines played a younger Carolyn in a single episode, newcomer Skelly has been cast in Honey, positioning the series as one of the BBC’s major launches for 2026.
Commissioned by Lindsay Salt, the Director of BBC Drama, in partnership with Frank Seyberth, Head of Coproduction, International Fiction, for ZDF, Honey will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The series is produced by Sid Gentle Films in association with Fifth Season, which will handle global distribution. Moran serves as both lead writer and executive producer, with Emme Hoy joining as a writer. The executive production team includes Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris for Sid Gentle Films, while Christopher Hall is the producer. Toby MacDonald will direct the first three episodes, with Michelle Savill helming episodes four to six.
