Barry Williams Reflects on Past Romance with Maureen McCormick
Barry Williams recently revisited his complex relationship with his Brady Bunch co-star Maureen McCormick during his appearance on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia. Williams compared their off-camera dating dynamics to the well-known reality show Love Island, emphasizing the closeness they shared throughout the filming.
Since the beloved sitcom concluded in 1974, fans have been eager to learn more about the cast’s personal lives. In a January 2026 episode, Williams revealed that his romantic involvement with McCormick was more than just a rumor. "We dated on and off for different times,” he said.
Commenting on the allure McCormick held during that time, Williams described her as “the hottest girl on television at the time and cute as could be.” Their relationship thrived in an environment where the entire cast spent extensive time together, creating a unique and intimate bond.
"We were the only people we knew and liked and cared about," he explained. “We had a great time together." He elaborated on the various dynamics among the cast, noting that they often formed groups based on their character ages: “Bobby and Cindy, the two youngest, Peter and Jan, the two middle kids, and then Greg and Marcia.”
Williams emphasized that the connections formed during those years extended beyond typical workplace relationships. “We were going through this whole thing together. We were together as a television family more than with our own families at times of the year,” he noted. "So we knew each other, we trusted each other, and we liked each other."

The chemistry between Williams and McCormick has not gone unnoticed by other cast members. Last year, Christopher Knight, who portrayed Peter Brady, commented on a memorable episode titled "A Room at the Top." During a discussion, he playfully remarked on the tension between Williams and McCormick, suggesting their interactions were distinctly romantic. “You two were looking a little less like brother and sister and more like…” Knight mused, to which Williams jokingly responded, “You mean dreamy-eyed?”
Today, both former child stars have moved on from their early romances. Williams has been married to Tina Mahina since 2017, while McCormick has been happily married to Michael Cummings for over 40 years and shares a daughter with him. In a recent interview, McCormick attributed the longevity of their marriage to humor and love. "You’ve got to have a sense of humor about things," Cummings stated. "You can’t take things too seriously. You got to let things go and just love the one you’re with. It’s a lifetime deal."
