Bad Bunny’s Journey to Becoming ‘Old Bunny’ for the Met Gala 2026: A Look at the 6-Week Transformation Process
Bad Bunny Transforms for Met Gala, Showcasing an Aged Persona
At the 2026 Met Gala, Bad Bunny made a striking entrance, appearing significantly aged at an uncanny 85 years. The 32-year-old Grammy Award winner was nearly unrecognizable on the red carpet, featuring deep-set wrinkles, liver spots, and a full head of white curls.
Mike Marino, the innovative prosthetics designer responsible for the transformation, explained that the meticulous process began six weeks prior to the iconic event. Marino had previously worked on dramatic looks for other celebrities, including a transformation of Heidi Klum into a living statue.
In a statement about his appearance, Bad Bunny noted the thematic focus of the gala’s exhibition, which challenges the fashion industry’s neglect of older bodies. “Fashion ages. But the art within it doesn’t expire,” he explained. “Of course, our bodies might age, but what we carry inside doesn’t, right?”
To realize Bad Bunny’s aged look, Marino examined elderly Puerto Rican men, meticulously sculpting every detail from a digital scan of the artist’s head. The end result included thin silicone prosthetics, allowing for natural movement, along with hand-carved features to capture the intricacies of aging.
Overall, the outfit not only paid homage to fashion’s evolving narrative but also celebrated the continued relevance of artistry as it intersects with aging, ensuring that the contributions of older generations remain visible.
