Angel City Suffers Fourth Straight Loss Against San Diego
San Diego Wave Triumph Over Angel City FC in 2-1 Showdown
In a thrilling encounter on Saturday at BMO Stadium, the San Diego Wave secured a 2-1 victory against their rivals, Angel City FC. Dudinha played a pivotal role in the match, contributing both a goal and an assist.
The opening goal came in the 49th minute when Dudinha maneuvered past several Angel City defenders. Her shot was deflected off defender Sarah Gorden, ultimately finding its way into the net.
Shortly after, Angel City responded with a goal from Emily Sams in the 54th minute, leveling the score. However, San Diego regained control of the game, with Dudinha’s precise cross in the 81st minute heading straight to rookie defender Mimi Van Zanten, who scored, sealing the Wave’s victory. This marked Dudinha’s fourth assist of the season, placing her in a tie for the league lead alongside Portland’s Olivia Moultrie.
The win improved San Diego’s record to 6-0-3, while Angel City’s season took a downturn, now sitting at 3-0-4 after beginning with three consecutive wins.
Angel City FC, previously coached by Becki Tweed—who is now an assistant with the Wave—has struggled recently. Tweed temporarily led the team while head coach Jonas Eidevall served a suspension following a red card in a recent loss to Bay FC.
