Mother and Daughter Grateful for Bystander After Disturbing Attack Near Anaheim Bus Stop
In a harrowing incident captured on security camera and cellphone footage, a mother and her teenage daughter faced a terrifying ordeal when they were attacked near a bus stop in Anaheim. The attack occurred around noon on Tuesday at the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and East Street.
The video footage reveals the pair walking along a median under an overpass when a man, later identified as 59-year-old Jose G. Gudinosanabria, approached them. As they crossed to the other side of the street, the suspect followed closely behind.
Referring to the encounter, the teenage girl recounted, "He was telling me to go up the hill with him. I understood what he was trying to say. I told him, ‘No, I’m ok.’ He stopped me from walking. He went in front of me. He grabbed both my arms. My mom saw this, and she pulled him away from me. That’s when he started telling us stuff and attacking my mom."
During the struggle, the mother sustained minor injuries, including a scraped knee and bruised fingers, but managed to capture video of the attack. In the recording, Gudinosanabria can be heard making sexually explicit threats in Spanish.
The evidence was pivotal, enabling police to arrest the suspect within two hours of the attack, not far from the scene. "We took the photo and used facial recognition working the case," said Sgt. Matthew Sutter.
The mother and daughter expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention of a good Samaritan. A woman driving a white SUV stopped to assist them and offered a ride to safety. "I felt like that was going to be my last day," the girl said. "I want to thank her for what she did. She’s an angel."
Gudinosanabria faces four felony counts, including kidnapping and intent to commit sexual assault. His arraignment is scheduled for later this month. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the identities of the mother and daughter are being withheld.
