Amazon Orders Adaptation of The Probability of Miracles Series
Amazon has announced its latest foray into young adult entertainment with a series adaptation of The Probability of Miracles, based on the novel by Wendy Wunder.
The project comes on the heels of Prime Video’s success with other young adult series, including The Summer I Turned Pretty, which concluded its third and final season earlier this summer.
The eight-part romantic series is penned by Katie Lovejoy, known for her work on To All the Boys: Always and Forever. It is produced by Alloy Entertainment, the company behind hit shows like Gossip Girl, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
The series centers around Campbell Cooper, a witty teenager facing a terminal cancer diagnosis. Relocating to the town of Promise with her mother and younger sister, Campbell grapples with her skepticism about miracles in the face of her fate. However, as she spends the summer in this enchanting town, she finds that miracles—and the possibility of love—may still exist, despite their improbability.

Lovejoy has also written the Netflix romantic drama Love at First Sight, featuring Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy, and has recently completed work on The 99ers, exploring the rise of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team in the 1990s. Her past projects include Miranda’s Rights for NBC and Dead Inside for The CW.
In addition to serving as the showrunner, Lovejoy will executive produce alongside Leslie Morgenstein from Alloy.
This marks one of the first series orders under Amazon’s new head of television, Peter Friedlander.
“I fell in love with Wendy Wunder’s beautiful novel in 2011, one year into my fledgling screenwriting career,” Lovejoy remarked. “The fact that now, 14 years later, I get to bring Cam’s journey to life onscreen is nothing short of a miracle. I’m so grateful to my partners at Alloy, Warner Bros. Television, and Amazon for believing in this story as much as I do.”
Friedlander expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Katie brings a rare combination of emotional depth and sharp humor. The Probability of Miracles is a beautiful and uplifting story about love, resilience, and the magic that can emerge even in life’s most challenging moments. We’re thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. Television and Alloy Entertainment to bring Wendy Wunder’s beloved YA novel to our global Prime Video audience.”
Leslie Morgenstein, President and Chief Creative Officer at Alloy Entertainment, added, “Wendy wrote an incredibly moving, funny, and bold novel that Alloy was privileged to be a part of bringing to life. In Katie’s hands, it will be a deeply romantic, funny, and moving series.”
Lovejoy is represented by CAA, Kaplan Perrone Entertainment, and Myman Greenspan Fineman Fox Rosenberg & Light.
