Alyvia Alyn Lind Discusses Grunge Glam in ‘Wayward’ and Her Favorite Glossier Boy Brow Products
Alyvia Alyn Lind, recognized for her roles in series such as Chucky, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Young and the Restless, and The Walking Dead, is making significant strides in Hollywood. Her upcoming Netflix series, Wayward, is set to premiere on September 25. This psychological thriller, which also features Mae Martin, Toni Collette, and Patrick J. Adams, delves into the perilous world of troubled teen programs. Lind portrays a teenager who must work to dismantle an unregulated cult operating as a “therapeutic” school known as Tall Pines, all while undergoing treatment within its confines.
“I’m excited for people to finally see the finished product. Everyone involved poured their hearts into this show, and we had the best time bringing it to life. The fact that it’s about to be out in the world feels surreal. I can’t wait to watch it drop and then immediately stalk TikTok to see reactions,” Lind expressed.
Describing her character’s journey, she added, “Because our show is set in the 2000s, I loved exploring the time period through her hair and makeup. We leaned into imperfections—the smudged eyeliner, messy hair—because that’s who Leila is. Early in the season, we used a red pigment under the eyes to give her a raw, strung-out look. Then, as her story shifts from home life to Tall Pines, all of that is stripped away. The bare-faced contrast felt so vulnerable and exposed the teenage girl beneath the grungy exterior.”
An avid beauty enthusiast, Lind shared some of her daily essentials, stating, “I swear by the ILIA Skin Tint, Summer Fridays’ Pink Sugar Balm—I keep one in every bag I own—and Glossier Boy Brow. When I wear all three, I can take on anything.”
Reflecting on the premiere night experience, Lind remarked, “It’s always chaotic in the best way. I start with a full skincare ritual—mask, ice roller, the works—before handing it over to my glam team. Those hours are my favorite; I sip coffee and play music while my team works their magic. For styling, my mood board is pretty consistent: Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, and a lot of inspiration from my sister, Emily.”
