Allyson Felix Shares Exciting News About Her Return: Will She Be at the 2028 L.A. Olympics?
Allyson Felix Announces Comeback in Pursuit of Olympic Glory
Allyson Felix, a celebrated track and field athlete, is making a remarkable comeback at the age of 40, aiming to expand her remarkable medal collection at the 2028 Paris Olympics. The move could potentially secure her Olympic record as the most decorated female Olympian in track and field.
In an interview with Time Magazine, Felix shared her surprising decision to return to competitive athletics nearly four years after retiring. “Let’s go after the thing. Let’s be vulnerable,” she said, highlighting her desire to challenge traditional expectations. Felix remarked, “You know, at this age, I should probably be staying home and taking care of my kids. And just, why not? Let’s flip it on its head.”
Felix boasts an impressive career, with 11 Olympic medals—the highest for any woman in track—and a record 20 medals from world championships. She has won seven Olympic titles, including six in relay events. Her only individual gold medal came in the 200-meter race at the 2012 London Games.
Since her retirement in 2022, Felix has been a strong advocate for athletes in motherhood, championing the rights of those looking to balance family life with competitive careers. She has since joined the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission.
Felix is a mother to two children, Camryn, age 7, and Trey, age 2. She plans to begin full-time training with her coach, Bobby Kersee, in October, with an eye on competing in 2027. The Olympic Games would take place in her hometown a year later.
“I totally get the person who sticks around too long and you’re like, ‘What are they doing?’” Felix acknowledged. “I know, at 40, I am not at my peak. I have no illusions about that. I’m very clear in what it is and what I want to see. And so I hope it’s seen that way.”
