Allison Williams and Dave Franco: A Journey Through Films That Didn’t Happen Before ‘Regretting You’
Allison Williams is finally collaborating with actor Dave Franco in a significant new project: the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You. This marks a long-awaited partnership, a decade in the making.
In an interview, the Girls alum expressed her eagerness to work with Franco prior to this adaptation, which is directed by Josh Boone and currently streaming on Paramount+. She shared that they had previously been cast in several projects together that ultimately did not materialize.
“We’ve been cast in a bunch of things that never came to fruition over the last 10 years,” Williams told People. She elaborated, mentioning that they were attached to “movies that almost happened and then fell apart at the last second.”

Interestingly, Williams and Franco had “actually never met” before working on this romantic drama, which is based on Hoover’s 2019 novel. “It felt like fate that eventually we would get to work [together],” she remarked.
Regretting You revolves around Clara, portrayed by Mckenna Grace, whose life is thrown into turmoil after a fatal accident reveals an affair between her father, Chris (Scott Eastwood), and aunt Jenny (Willa Fitzgerald). This revelation challenges her mother Morgan (Williams) and uncle Jonah (Franco) to navigate the consequences of the betrayal, while also igniting a past romantic spark between the two adults.

As Clara grapples with these revelations, she also unexpectedly finds love in Miller (Mason Thames), who brings a sense of stability and warmth, helping her rediscover joy amidst the chaos.
