Alice and Steve Trailer: Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement Shine in New Hulu Romantic Comedy
Hulu has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming series Alice & Steve, featuring Jemaine Clement and Nicola Walker. The highly anticipated comedy is set to premiere on Monday, June 8.
In a standout moment from the trailer, Walker’s character, Alice, delivers a biting remark to her best friend, Steve: “I hope you fall out of your window and then get pierced in the heart by your railing and that no one comes to your funeral.” This poignant line captures the tension that arises when Alice discovers that Steve is now dating her much younger daughter, Izzy.
Created and written by Sophie Goodhart, the six-part series centers on Alice, who faces the painful prospect of losing both her best friend and daughter simultaneously. In her efforts to thwart the relationship, Alice finds that Steve is more than prepared for her attempts to intervene, transforming their once-close friendship into an intense rivalry.
According to Hulu, Alice & Steve presents a humorous yet chaotic examination of friendship, love, and revenge. Marketed as an anti-romantic comedy—or "wrong-com"—the series poses questions about the lengths one might go for love and the quest for retribution. Viewers are left wondering whether Alice will ultimately forgive Steve, and if Steve and Izzy can navigate their budding relationship amidst the turmoil.
The cast also includes Joel Fry, Tyrese Eaton-Dyce, Marcia Warren, Eilidh Fisher, and Ebony Aboagye.
Notably, Alice & Steve arrives with a notable pedigree, having already secured three awards at the Canneseries Awards: Best Series, a Special Interpretation Award for its ensemble cast, and the Student Award.
