Ali Ahn Shares How Keri Russell Inspired Her Morning Celery Juice Habit on ‘The Diplomat’ and Talks K-Beauty Favorites
Ali Ahn Returns as CIA Station Chief in The Diplomat Season 3
Ali Ahn is set to reprise her role as Eidra Park, the steadfast CIA station chief, in Netflix’s The Diplomat, with the highly anticipated third season premiering on October 16. As the global stakes escalate in the series, so does Park’s influence, reflecting a deepening CIA presence amid evolving international dynamics and tensions.
In discussing the new season, Ahn expressed enthusiasm about the narrative’s progression. "Alice and Jenny really throttle Season 3, so that is really exciting," she noted, highlighting the addition of Bradley Whitford, whose previous on-screen partnership with the cast adds an intriguing layer. "The stakes of Season 2 end so dramatically. We really start Season 3 the second after the finale of Season 2. It’s pretty fast-paced as soon as the season starts."
The complexity of her character deepens this season, with Ahn describing a professional crisis for Eidra. “The big risk she takes in Season 2 to help Kate with a sting fails to produce the intel that she thought it would. Now, they face all the security concerns of the Vice President becoming President. It’s a lot.”
Reflecting on the show’s popularity, Ahn remarked, "It feels pretty nuts to be on a show that is this beloved. It’s just so validating because everybody works so hard, and it doesn’t always happen that you put in your best effort and audiences respond. We all just feel so grateful and lucky to be working on this caliber of a show with this kind of writing."
As the cast continues to grow closer, Ahn expressed her eagerness to dive back into the role. "We all know each other really well now, so it kind of feels like going back to school. I’m excited to get back."
The commitment to preparation remains paramount for Ahn, who shared insights about her early mornings: "It’s definitely very early mornings, which I think every actor has when they’re shooting. There are so many words to wrap your mouth around, so I can’t really be waking up as I get to set.”
Ahn’s routine includes a night-before prep to ensure she is ready for the day ahead. “I usually try to move my body if I have time before I get to set,” she mentioned, adding that she has picked up fresh celery juice for an energy boost from fellow actor Keri Russell.
Recent work has taken Ahn to Korea, where she embraced her roots and sampled local skincare innovations. "I love Mediheal and Medicube," she noted, praising their PDRN serums and collagen masks for their effectiveness.
With a busy schedule ahead, Ahn also looks forward to brief downtime after wrapping an independent film. “I’m actually from LA, so I’ll go home to see my family and friends for a couple of days.” She added, “Hopefully, a trip to the woods is in my future.”
As The Diplomat returns, viewers can expect an intense mix of drama and intrigue, driven by strong performances from Ahn and her co-stars.
