Alfred Hitchcock’s Stories Reimagined for Today’s Short-Form Audience
EXCLUSIVE: A cinematic landmark is taking a modern turn. Alfred Hitchcock’s 1927 silent classic The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog has been transformed into a vertical format, marking a significant shift in how classic films are presented.
This innovative adaptation is now available in the United States via Tattle TV, a burgeoning UK microdrama app. Tattle TV claims this is “one of the first known instances of a classic feature film being fully reframed for vertical, mobile-first consumption.”
“By repurposing British classics like The Lodger, Tattle TV aims to introduce iconic cinema to a whole new generation of viewers, bridging the gap between film history and contemporary mobile audiences,” the platform stated.

The Lodger serves as Hitchcock’s debut major work, establishing his credibility as a prominent director. This silent thriller, featuring Marie Ault and Ivor Novello, centers on a serial killer who preys on young blonde women on Tuesday evenings.
Philip McGoldrick, co-founder of Tattle, noted, “Tattle TV is an early adopter of cutting-edge AI tools, allowing us to streamline our vertical-first workflow and bring classic and archival content to mobile audiences faster than ever.”
