Alex Warren Reflects on His Experience of the Grammy Audio Glitch: “This Would Only Happen to Me”
Alex Warren garnered attention last night during the Grammy Awards, not just for his nomination for Best New Artist but for an off-beat performance that sparked widespread discussion. The singer revealed he faced significant challenges with his in-ear audio devices during his performance of the hit song “Ordinary.”
Warren began his act at a concession stand in the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, engaging with the audience as he walked through the venue. However, mid-performance, he began to adjust his in-ear device, ultimately removing it entirely, which caused him to fall behind his backing singers.
In a subsequent Instagram post, Warren shared a glimpse into the audio confusion he experienced. Accompanying the video, he displayed a range of emotions, from a resigned smile to burying his face in his hands in frustration.
The post included the caption: “When you’re performing at the Grammys and all you hear is this in your ears… This would only happen to me…”
Despite the technical difficulties, Warren lost the Best New Artist award to British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean. However, fans have voiced their support for Warren, expressing that he deserved a better experience during the high-profile ceremony.
The performance mishap reverberated across social media, with many calling out the challenges artists face during live events, particularly in a setting as prestigious as the Grammys.
