Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach 2023 Begins with IndyCar Practice and a Lupe Fiasco Concert
Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Kicks Off This Friday
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach will officially open its gates this Friday, marking the event’s 51st year as it transforms the downtown area into a vibrant racing venue.
This three-day festival will feature a thrilling mix of professional races, engaging fan activities, and live music performances. The race takes place on a 1.97-mile street circuit, which includes 11 turns and surrounds the Long Beach Convention Center.
The packed schedule for Friday includes practice sessions starting at 7:45 a.m., featuring the IndyCar series and the Porsche Carrera Cup. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in a free IndyCar autograph session at the Grand Ballroom from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The day will conclude with the first round of the drifting competition and a performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Lupe Fiasco at 6:30 p.m.
Schedule for Friday
- 7:30 a.m.: Gates open to the public.
- 7:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Practice sessions for Porsche Carrera Cup, Historic Sports Cars, and IMSA teams.
- 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Featured IndyCar practice session.
- 5:15 p.m.: Free IndyCar driver autograph session.
- 6:30 p.m.: Concert by Lupe Fiasco and drifting competition commence.
On Saturday, the focus shifts to IndyCar qualifying, along with a performance by the band Kings of Chaos. The weekend culminates on Sunday with the highly anticipated Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach IndyCar race.
Highlights and Fan Favorites
The Stadium Super Trucks series, founded by veteran racer Robby Gordon, remains a fan favorite. Gordon’s 17-year-old son, Max Gordon, will return to the track after a successful previous season, having secured a win in one of two races held in Long Beach last year.
For those attending on Friday, spectators with race tickets can enjoy the Lupe Fiasco concert at no extra charge. Additionally, an early arrival to the autograph session is recommended, as it operates on a first-come, first-served basis for all ticket holders.
