Actress Shares Her Ongoing Struggles with Anxiety After Being Stalked by Film Producer Kevin Proctor, Known for Work on ‘Midas Man’ and ‘Star Wars’
Actress Nicola Holt Issues Warning Following Kevin Proctor’s Guilty Plea for Stalking
Nicola Holt, a British actress known for her roles in Viewpoint and Hollyoaks, has cautioned fellow women in the film industry to “beware” of film producer Kevin Proctor, who recently pleaded guilty to stalking her.
Proctor, 47, received a 12-month restraining order and a £505 ($666) fine from Manchester Magistrate’s Court after admitting to stalking Holt, which included the placement of a tracking device on a car used by the actress.
Though Proctor had previously denied a more serious stalking charge that caused “substantial alarm and distress,” he changed his plea to guilty on a lesser charge during the recent court proceedings. His attorney described the incident as isolated and attributed it to Proctor’s autism, which affects his decision-making capabilities.
Proctor, who has notable credits as a producer—including work on the troubled biopic Midas Man—has also held behind-the-scenes roles on projects like Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.
Background of the Relationship
Holt first engaged with Proctor via social media during the pandemic, leading to freelance work on a Prime Video true-crime documentary produced by his company, Studio Pow. Their professional relationship later evolved into a romantic involvement. Holt ended the relationship in August 2023 upon discovering Proctor had a girlfriend and noted a shift in his behavior when she began dating another man in early 2024.
Holt described multiple unsettling encounters with Proctor, including sightings of his car near her home and an incident while house hunting where she spotted him at a construction site. “There was no reason for anyone to be there,” she remarked, questioning her own perceptions.
The Discovery of the Tracking Device
In the days following, Holt experienced a slashed tire on her work van while staying at a hotel. Concerned, she shared her fears with her boyfriend, leading to the shocking discovery of a tracking device hidden behind a license plate on her partner’s car on June 28, 2024. This vehicle was in her possession due to issues with her own car. After filing a police report, Proctor was arrested in July 2024.
“I was shaking. My heart dropped,” Holt recalled, describing her reaction to the tracker. “I ripped off the tracker because it’s magnetic, and I ran back inside and did not stop crying.”
In court, Proctor’s lawyer revealed that he had enlisted a private investigator to attach the tracking device, stating that “he is a film producer by trade and not well-versed in these sorts of things,” though the action was taken under Proctor’s instruction.
Impact and Consequences
Holt’s experiences have left her feeling heightened anxiety about her safety, stating that even an unusual car outside her home can trigger distress. In her victim impact statement, she expressed, “Not feeling safe in your own home is a violation, and that’s what these brutal, thoughtless actions have done.”
Reflecting on the ordeal, Holt expressed gratitude for the resolution in court and emphasized her desire for other women to be aware of Proctor’s behavior. “I wouldn’t like to see him again in that place of power in the industry,” she stated.
Proctor’s attorney mentioned that the case had significantly impacted his client’s life, causing “considerable reputational damage” and indicating that Proctor is now employed at a freezer factory and residing with his parents.
