A$AP Rocky has clarified the status of his relationship with Drake in a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music, where he addressed rumors of a brewing feud between the two artists.
The discussion, published on January 21, 2023, saw the radio host inquire about any “real issue” between the two rappers. A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, responded candidly, acknowledging the tension surrounding their relationship.
“I think hip-hop tactics and beefs are, like, WWF. It’s like wrestling all the way, right? But this thing between us, it’s not real smoke,” he stated, emphasizing that the conflict is not genuine animosity but perhaps a situation fueled by public speculation.

A$AP Rocky also pointed out that their previous friendship has deteriorated, attributing the fallout to personal relationships, particularly with Rihanna. He commented, “We were once friends,” adding that he believes their estrangement stems from “over females.”
Reflecting on their interactions, A$AP Rocky remarked that it’s immature for anyone to still focus on romantic entanglements as they all mature. He remarked, “For you to still be picking at a female and all that, that’s soft to me.”
The rapper, who shares three children with Rihanna—sons RZA and Riot, and daughter Rocki—acknowledged the heavy scrutiny from fans and media regarding their intertwined relationships. Rihanna and Drake previously had an on-and-off relationship that spanned nearly a decade, with Drake expressing his feelings for her multiple times in public.

A$AP Rocky further discussed his new music and its broader implications, stating, “It ain’t just about one person. I’m talking to whoever feels like I’m talking to them.” He concluded his thoughts on the rumored feud by asserting, “I do think that it’s petty … it’s enough money. It’s enough women. It’s enough fame, spotlights to go around. But is it real smoke? It could never be.”
