A$AP Rocky appears to be keeping his personal life private. The 37-year-old rapper recently sidestepped a query regarding his relationship with Rihanna during an episode of Julian Shapiro-Barnum’s Celebrity Substitute series, which aired on February 4.
In this episode featuring public school children interviewing celebrities, a young participant posed the question of whether Rocky was married to Rihanna. “That’s an interesting question that you asked,” the rapper responded before humorously asking if the child would prefer Rihanna to take his place.
“You want Rihanna, huh?” he quipped. “Well, you got me. You got me today.”

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, and Rihanna publicly acknowledged their relationship in November 2020. The couple shares three children: RZA Athelston, 3½, Riot Rose, 2, and Rocki Irish, who is 5 months old. Their youngest, Rocki, was welcomed last September.
During the Celebrity Substitute episode, Rocky also discussed how he and Rihanna are introducing their children to music. “I play my children all sorts of genres,” he noted. “From Michael Jackson’s classic stuff to psychedelic music and the Beatles. A lot of reggae, too. We live in a musical household, so it’s very diverse.”
In a previous interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rocky recounted the first time he met Rihanna, revealing that they crossed paths outside a New York City nightclub years ago, prior to his rise to fame. “She was obviously Rihanna. And I couldn’t get in! The bouncers didn’t want to let me in,” he recalled.
Rocky reminisced, “I was with my friend, the late, great Virgil Abloh, and Matthew Williams, and we were getting into it with the bouncers when she came out. We locked eyes right away, and I was just like, in a daze.”
Recently, Rocky celebrated the release of his fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, which debuted on January 16 and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Rihanna publicly congratulated him on social media, expressing her joy with a post saying, “Just me here to let yall know my baby daddy got the NUMBER 1 ALBUM!!! Aaahhhhhh hah! DONT BE DUMB!!!”
