A Casual 10 Minutes with Bailey Zimmerman at Stagecoach
Bailey Zimmerman took the stage Friday night at Stagecoach, delivering a dynamic performance that blended post-grunge country hits such as “Religiously” and “Where It Ends” with a heartfelt cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.” He was joined during his set by BigXthaPlug for their duet “All the Way.” Prior to the performance, the 26-year-old singer shared insights during a conversation in a denim-themed pop-up event presented by American Eagle, the brand for which he serves as an ambassador.
When asked about his partnership with American Eagle, Zimmerman replied, “I would understand why you would think that. But honestly, no — it was a full circle moment in my life. Before my American Eagle deal, I had all the American Eagle underwear. They couldn’t send me new ones — I had ’em all.”
On the topic of perks of his ambassadorship, he added, “They give me everything for free.” When prompted to share some of those benefits, Zimmerman jokingly said, “Maybe? I could do one of those things where I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s for me,’ but it’s really for you.”
This appearance marked Zimmerman’s fourth consecutive Stagecoach festival. “It’s my favorite time of the year — it’s sick. I come out here the whole weekend,” he reflected, noting that he started the tradition with friends who have since become engaged. “So it’s just a big party all weekend. It’s something I look forward to.”
Last year, he expressed a desire to find a wife. Addressing his ongoing search, Zimmerman said, “Honestly, I’m still just kind of doing my thing. I’m on God’s timing, truly — I’m just letting it roll.”
The singer, a self-described Justin Bieber fan, commented on the artist’s recent album releases. “I was hesitant to want to listen to ‘Swag II’ because I love ‘Swag I’ so much. But once you get into ‘Swag II,’ it’s like, Dude, this is so fire, bro. Both albums are so fire — I’ll listen to either one.”
Zimmerman also shared his thoughts on Bieber’s recent performance dubbed “Bieberchella,” stating, “I thought it was really cool. I loved it — it was just something way different. I’ve never seen that done like that. Iconic — I would call it iconic. That’ll go down in history.”
His latest radio hit, “Chevy Silverado,” reflects personal experiences. When asked about his first truck, Zimmerman revealed, “A 2005 white Chevy Silverado. That’s what the song’s about.” He clarified that the song draws from his life, recounting how he bought the vehicle from his grandfather after borrowing money from his local bank. “Adult things,” he noted with a laugh.
Zimmerman still owns that cherished truck and expressed surprise at the song’s resonance with listeners. “Honestly, I didn’t think anybody would resonate with the song. Every single line is a real-life story from my life, so to see it resonating with everybody and seeing it do what it’s doing — it’s so cool, man,” he said.
