Mitchell Slaggert Joins the Cast of ‘Virgin River’ as Season 8 Begins Filming
New Character Joins Cast of Netflix’s "Virgin River"
In a significant addition to the cast of Netflix’s popular romantic drama "Virgin River," actor Mitchell Slaggert has been announced for a major recurring role in the show’s upcoming eighth season. Production for the new season recently began in Vancouver.
Slaggert will portray Eddie, a charismatic EMT with a knack for bringing comfort to both the body and soul. Described as a laid-back charmer, Eddie finds himself navigating life in a small town, driven by his natural curiosity and enthusiasm for new experiences in Virgin River.
While details about Eddie’s employer remain undisclosed, it is expected he will interact with established characters including Doc (played by Tim Matheson), Mel (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge), Fire Chief Kaia (Kandyse McClure), and potentially volunteer firefighter Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), especially as he recovers from a motorcycle crash depicted in the Season 7 finale.
With the backdrop of "Virgin River," romantic entanglements are also anticipated for Eddie, promising to add intrigue to the storyline.
Slaggert brings valuable experience to the role, having previously played a love interest in HBO Max’s "The Sex Lives of College Girls" during its second season. He was also the male lead in the Lifetime holiday movie "A Carpenter Christmas Romance," which was written and executive produced by Sarah Drew.
To celebrate the commencement of Season 8 production, Breckenridge recently shared a selfie with co-star Martin Henderson. The show’s typical release schedule suggests that the new season will premiere approximately one year after filming starts, aligning with the pattern established for Season 7.
Beyond his work in "Virgin River," Slaggert is recognized for his role in the first season of Taylor Sheridan’s drama "Landman," and he appeared in the indie film "Moss" and the horror-thriller "Wish Upon," alongside Joey King and Ryan Phillippe. He is represented by Apeture Talent, Authentic Talent, and Vision PR.
