New Film ‘The One Before The One’ Set for Cannes Launch
Cannes, France – Actors Charlie Gillespie, known for his role in Julie and the Phantoms, Sara Waisglass from Ginny & Georgia, and Siena Augudong, who stars in Sidelined: The QB and Me, are set to headline the upcoming young adult romance film The One Before The One. Blue Fox Entertainment is officially launching the project at the Cannes market.
Production is scheduled to commence on July 6 in Austin, Texas. The film will be directed and written by Brittany Sarkisian, based on a story by John E. Clark. Sarkisian will also produce the film alongside Jaylen Moore for Showmance Productions, as well as Raja Collins, Dan Sheldon, and Tara Pirnia.
The film’s synopsis reveals a compelling premise: “When burned-out Wall Street analyst Steven (Gillespie) returns to his hometown for his twentieth high school reunion, he is inexplicably transported back to his senior year and reunited with his lost love, Beth (Agudong). Steven becomes determined to rewrite history, but the version of Beth he spent twenty years idolizing may not be the soulmate he remembered. While trying to ensure his best friend Brian doesn’t once again miss the opportunity to play college football, and rebuilding his relationship with his longtime friend and songwriter, Katie (Waisglass), Steven slowly comes to realize that the life and love he always wished for might not be the one that got away.”
Set against a backdrop of late-90s nostalgia, the film features references to Nokia phones, house parties, alt-rock music, and the looming panic surrounding Y2K.
Lisa Gutberlet, president of Blue Fox Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the film: “We’re thrilled to be handling worldwide sales for Brittany Sarkisian’s feature directorial debut. The film takes a familiar and deeply relatable idea and approaches it in a fresh, imaginative and heartfelt way. Everyone has wondered what it would be like to relive a pivotal moment of their life with the wisdom they have now. Combined with this tremendously charismatic cast, the film has all the ingredients to resonate with audiences around the world.”
Gillespie is represented by Vanderwerff Talent and David Dean Management. Waisglass is with Play Management and Amplified, while Augudong is represented by the Gersh Agency and Amsel, Eisenstadt, Frazier & Hinojosa Talent Agency (AEFH) as well as Trilogy Talent.
